Root Galaxy S22 Ultra via Magisk Patched AP

The following instructions are mentioned under separate sections to be easily understood. Ensure to follow in the exact same sequence as listed below.

Unlock Bootloader

Firstly, unlock the bootloader on the device. Must remember that doing so will trip Knox & reset the device. In case that’s well and good.

Get Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Stock Firmware

Here simply download the stock firmware for the device, for which we have shared the download links below. In case it matches your region, carrier, & build number. You probably get it from here [Credits: XDA Senior Member williamtung and Retired Forum Moderator kangi26].

At the time when you guys have downloaded the firmware, bring it out to any convenient location on the Computer. This shall provide you with the AP, BL, CP, CSC, & HOME_CSC files. Here we will be using these files (except for HOME_CSC) in order to root the Galaxy S22 Ultra by using Magisk.

But, in case the above firmware version is not in sync along with your device’s need, you are able to use the Frija Tool, SamLoader Tool, or websites just like SamMobile. So proceed via the Frija Tool

  1. Firstly, you should get the Frija Tool and bring it out to any convenient location on the Computer.
  2. Set up the tool. Copy and paste in the device’s Model Numer & CSC Code.
  3. Press the Check Update button. It will bring up the newest available firmware.
  4. Now press the Download button, choose the directory where you guys want to get the firmware, and press Save.
  5. Now the downloading method will begin. At the time when it is completed then the tool will decrypt the firmware.
  6. When the decryption is complete, then it shall explain the Download Complete message.
  7. Open the folder where you guys have downloaded the firmware and extract it. You will get the AP, BL, CP, CSC, & HOME_CSC files. Well, we’ll be using these files (except for HOME_CSC) in order to root the Galaxy S22 Ultra by using the Magisk.

Patch Galaxy S22 Ultra AP by using Magisk

  1. Firstly, you have to transfer the AP file just from the extracted firmware folder over to the device.
  2. Get the newest version of the Magisk App.
  3. Set up the app and press the Install button next to Magisk.
  4. Opt to Select and Patch a File, go to the AP TAR file. Choose it.
  5. Click on the Let’s Go button located at the top right. Wait for the patching to complete.
  6. Once completed, then you should get the patched AP file named magisk_patched_ [random_number].tar under the Downloads folder.

Transfer the Patched AP File to PC

  1. Firstly, you should download the Android SDK Platform Tools. Bring it out to any convenient location on Computer.
  2. Go to this platform-tools folder, copy and paste in CMD in its address bar, and press Enter. This shall set up the CMD window.
  3. Here connect the device to the computer by using a USB  cable. Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
  4. Copy and paste the following command in order to send the patched AP file to the Computer (ensure to replace the random strings accordingly)
    adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_[random_strings]

Boot Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to Download Mode

  1. Firstly, power off your device,
  2. Press & hold Vol Up + Vol Down together. Also, connect your device to the computer by using the USB cable.
  3. When you guys see the Warning message on the device, release the pressed keys.
  4. Hit the Volume Up key once. Your device will be booted to Download Mode.

Get Odin

  1. download the Odin Tool from this link.
  2. Bring it out to a convenient location on the Computer.
  3. Go to the folder where you guys have extracted the tool.
  4. Double-tap on the Odin3_v3.14.4 EXE file to set up the tool.

Flash Patched AP file using Odin & Root Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

  1. First of all, you should set up the Odin tool on the PC.
  2. Tap on the BL button, open the extracted firmware folder. Choose the BL file.
  3. Tap on the AP button, open the patched AP.tar file. Choose it.
  4. Press the CP button, go to the extracted firmware folder and choose the CP file.
  5. Press the CSC button, go to the extracted firmware folder. Choose the CSC file [the normal CSC, not the HOME_CSC].
  6. At the time when all the files have been loaded, then press the Start button. Now the flashing process will begin & can also take a few minutes.
  7. Finally, when completed then you should get the PASS!‘ message. Similarly, your device will automatically boot to the OS.
